Artist representation within music videos is essential for many reasons, the artists representation within a music video can both act as an aid towards the music video as it helps with the narrative, and can also portray the artist in a different perspective. Artist representation is important as it affects the way in which fans look at the artists, a bad representation of an artist could be incredibly bad for their sales and could lose them income, whilst a good representation could do the opposite.

Jazz : Jacket, jeans, shirt and trainers, normal hair and no make up.
We decided the music video would be the course of one day, this thus meant that there is only need for one outfit for the protagnist, however there are flashbacks implemented within the music video and within them, normal clothes are to be used as our music video intends to depict a normal persons life to make it relatable.
Robyn & Liv: Jumper, jeans, t-shirt and shoes. Light make up and normal hair.
These 2 actresses were both put into the music video as they are both blonde and have similar hair, when we decided upon adding in the narrative aspect in which the protagonist (Jazz) thinks he see's his ex girlfriend with another man, although he is intoxicated and mistakes her for another girl, resulting in a fight. The clothing both of the actresses wear are intended to be similar, and the style of their hair was intended to be the same.

We will be using normal clothes as they can relate to the audience, as our music video uses narrative aspects and thus the music video needs to be relatable and enjoyable. The use of these normal clothes is also conventional of our music genre as the artists within the psychedelic rock genre tend to wear normal clothes within their music video, as the artists are all normal people and the fan base are all normal people the narrative and costumes within the video would emit one of normal, everyday life.
Our intended audience will build a relationship with the artists through the imagery and representation of the artists as the clothing and make up within the video is entirely relatable and casual. The use of these clothing means that the fans will be able to relate and portray the artist in a light that is normal to them, as the artists seem to just be normal people and not in fact celebrities.
This post demonstrates basic planning techniques and this is because you have not explored your artist image in enough detail. This is because you have only included an overview of your artist's image, instead of being specific about the different scenes that your artist will feature in.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, you need to refer back to your storyboards to ensure that you have consider the image in more detail. Also aim to relate your points back to the your conventions to demonstrate further planning techniques.
Finally aim to include images to support the points that you have made.
